Immortal Realm

Adventurer's Guide

New to Ultima Online or just new to Immortal Realm? This tome covers everything you need.

What is Ultima Online?

Ultima Online (UO) is one of the oldest massively multiplayer online games — a top-down 2D RPG set in the fantasy world of Britannia. Unlike modern MMOs, UO has no classes. Your character is defined entirely by the skills you train.

Characters have a skill cap of 700 points, spread across any combination of skills. A warrior might spend 100 points each in Swords, Tactics, Anatomy, Healing, and Parrying. A crafter might focus on Blacksmithy, Mining, and Arms Lore. The freedom is yours.

Download & Install

Immortal Realm uses the ClassicUO open-source client. You also need a copy of the original Ultima Online game files.

  1. Download and install ClassicUO from our Download page.
  2. You need the UO client files (Classic Client). These are available from the official Ultima Online website — the free client download includes all required data files.
  3. Point ClassicUO at your UO data folder during setup (or in Settings → Data Path).
If you have trouble finding the data files, our Discord community can help point you in the right direction.

Connecting to the Realm

  1. Launch ClassicUO.
  2. Click Add Server on the server list screen.
  3. Enter the server address: play.immortalrealm.net and port 2593.
  4. Create an account on the login screen and log in.
The first time you log in you will create your account directly through the client — no website registration required.

Creating Your Character

During character creation, you choose a profession (Warrior, Mage, Blacksmith, Paladin, etc.) which sets your starting skills and gear. This is not permanent — you can train any skill later.

Choose a profession that matches how you want to start, not how you want to end up. All paths lead to the same skill system.

  • Warrior — melee fighter, good for solo combat
  • Mage — powerful ranged damage, harder starting curve
  • Blacksmith — crafter, earns gold through production
  • Paladin — combat with Chivalry spells, beginner friendly

Starting in New Haven

All new characters start in New Haven on Trammel — the safe facet. New Haven has trainers for most skills, vendors for basic supplies, and quest givers that reward skill points for completing simple tasks.

Talk to the quest givers near the Inn. These quests teach you the basics and reward small skill gains that help you get started faster than pure grinding.

Trammel is fully safe from player-versus-player combat. You cannot be attacked by other players here.

Skills & Progression

Skills raise by using them. Attack enemies to raise combat skills. Cast spells to raise Magery. Mine ore to raise Mining. There are no experience points — everything is skill-based.

On Immortal Realm, early skill gains are faster than standard UO. Getting to 70 in a skill is fairly quick. The final 20 points (80-100) require real investment. This is by design — reaching 100 in a skill should feel meaningful.

To raise a skill past 100, you need a Powerscroll — rare items available from Felucca champion spawns.

Gold & the Economy

Gold on Immortal Realm is intentionally scarce. You earn it through monster kills, quests, and selling to other players. You spend it on repairs, housing upkeep, vendor fees, and crafting materials.

New player income is roughly 500-1,500 gp/hr fighting basic monsters. Mid-tier content (Destard, Shame) earns 3,000-6,000 gp/hr. Felucca farmers can earn 8,000-15,000 gp/hr — but at real risk.

NPC vendors buy items at 20-25% of their value. Don't sell to NPCs if you can find another player to buy from you.

Crafting

Crafting is the backbone of the Immortal Realm economy. Player-crafted gear is among the best available — not a stepping stone to loot-dropped gear. Master crafters using runic tools and BODs (Bulk Order Deeds) can produce items that rival or exceed anything dropped by monsters.

Key crafting skills include Blacksmithy, Tailoring, Carpentry, Tinkering, and Alchemy. Each has a progression system through Bulk Order Deeds that rewards regular practice with increasingly powerful tools.

High-end recipes require Fel-exclusive materials — resources that only drop in Felucca. Crafting these items is one of the most rewarding ways to engage with the dangerous facet without being a fighter yourself.

When You're Ready: Felucca

Felucca is Immortal Realm's high-risk, high-reward facet. It mirrors Trammel's map but has open player-versus-player combat — any player can attack you at any time.

In exchange, Felucca offers:

  • Exclusive crafting materials (Fel Iron Ingots, Blood Crystals, Draconic Scales)
  • Powerscrolls from champion spawns (the only way to exceed 100 in a skill)
  • 1.5-2x gold multiplier on monster loot
  • Unique quests and story content
Recommended: 70+ in your primary skill before entering Felucca solo. Consider joining a guild for protection when farming there.
